At the 2012 ACUI Annual Conference in Boston, Carolina Union Marketing & Design presented on “In-House Marketing, Design, and Revenue Generation.” Our session was designed to galvanize college unions without a design department to start one, and to equip those with one with methods to run their department more efficiently. Each attendee received a “Create” tote bag filled with goodies including buttons, chocolate, a collaborative drawing game, and a small sketchbook in which to record their creative ideas. The notebook contained perforated cards illustrating our “Great Eight”—the main points from our presentation, including tips on staffing, tools, and creativity.
